Arrest Warrant Status (AW)
If you fail to appear on your case by the initial appearance date listed on your citation, a warrant will be issued for your arrest. There will also be an additional violation filed against you, referred to as a Failure to Appear (FTA) or a Violate Promise to Appear (VPTA), incurring separate fines and fees.
If your case is an arrest warrant status, the following options are available:
- Post a personal bond to secure a trial date and have an opportunity to speak with the prosecutor before preceding with a trial. (This option is required to be done in person, in open court.)
- Plea Guilty or No Contest and pay your fines in full.
- Begin a payment plan. (This option is required to be done in person, in open court.)
Capias Pro Fine Warrant Status (CP)
A Capias Pro Fine warrant is issued when a Defendant fails to comply with a court issued order. In these instances, a plea has already been accepted and payment arrangements have been made.
If your case is in Capias Pro Fine status the following options are available:
- Pay the fines due in full. You may make a payment in full online, over the phone, or in person. *You will not be arrested if you appear in person with active warrants with the intention to pay in full.
We also forward all cases in warrant status to OMNI Base Service of Texas. This statewide database will deny re-issuance of your driver’s license indefinitely, until you have paid or disposed of all active cases. Payments for any case that is not in warrant status must be by cash, money order, cashier’s check, or credit card. Personal checks will not be accepted. To verify that status of your license, visit the Texas Department of Public Safety’s verification site.
When a Warrant is Issued
If you have never appeared in court, or have failed to appear for a court date, you may post a cash bond to have the warrant removed and set a court date. Surety bonds will only be accepted upon approval of the judge. Please contact the Municipal Court for the bond amount.
WARNING: IF YOU FAIL TO DISPOSE OF YOUR WARRANT, OUR CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT WILL ACTIVELY PURSUE YOUR ARREST AT YOUR HOME, PLACE OF BUSINESS, OR ANY OTHER LOCATION.
